Bringing collies to their foster or forever homes

Collie Rescue League of New England is currently seeking transport volunteers to travel with collie co-pilots all over New England and eastern New York. Our Collie Chauffeurs receive notices of transports and let us know if they are able to take a leg or longer stretch of any scheduled trips.

Transport volunteers drive collies at times that work with their schedules. For example, if a volunteer sees one of our collies is traveling to a foster home in New Hampshire and the volunteer doesn’t have prior commitments, he or she can let CRLNE know they’re available to join that collie’s transport team.

Collies are great listeners and traveling companions.

Many of our transport volunteers love the therapeutic escape offered by driving through New England on a cold winter day or warm summery day with an eager collie on board heading to a forever home or to a foster family waiting with open arms at the end of their trip.

It is a selfless but very rewarding experience!

Please contact us at 1-800-296-3265 or email us at if you are interested in joining our transport team!

“Transportation is one of the most joyful and poignant steps in a collie’s journey to his or her furever home. I have witnessed the most difficult, courageous decisions loving families make when they relinquish a collie.

In these instances, we are true ambassadors for CRLNE and must be compassionately open to life circumstances of others during turn-ins. Some days, I might be completing one leg of a longer excursion and then I get to meet briefly but happily with other like-minded transportation volunteers. I joyfully watch my collie co-pilot move further along his or her new life.

Finally, there is the pure joy when I am bringing a collie to meet up with his or her furever family for adoption! For me, all trips are both touching and gratifying because I know I’ve played a small part in our collies’ passage on what I call the “Underground Railroad for Collies”.
